About the Centre

IARC is located in Oakville, Ontario and officially opened in May 2004, thanks to a generous grant from the Donner Canadian Foundation (http://www.donnerfoundation.org/). Building on the hospice philosophy, the Centre addresses the need for education and support about end-of-life issues and palliative care.

The Centre houses material on all aspects of palliative care as well as recent research and new approaches to end-of-life care. Trained volunteers offer one-to-one practical and emotional support and help caregivers access existing community support services. The Centre provides a meeting place for community groups to gather for discussion and acquire information on palliative care.
